Church bassists, . . . how much Hillsong United do you do?

I just recently started going to a church that does a lot of the new Hillsong stuff, as well as songs from the United CDs. It's a pretty progressive church, musically. Preaching/teaching is as good as it gets though. I'm looking forward to January when they'll start putting me into the worship team rotation.

Anyway, just wondered if any others on this forum do the United stuff? I ask this because, compared to my former church, there is a whole new skill set that is needed for many of the songs heard on the United CDs. My other church DID do some Hillsong stuff, but the "older stuff", and what we did was similar in style to what I had always done.

Comments?

We do some Chris Tomlin and maybe even David Crowder as well, but I am new to this church and the worship is both foreign, yet exciting. There is much more of an air of worship there then in my previous church. How about yours?

the worships all right. i just hate going from an up tempo rock song to a countryish hymn, i wish we played all contemporary jams.

Sometimes I find David Crowder to be a bit country-ish. But I know what you mean. At my previous church, I'd never know (from one Sunday to the next) if we would be doing more contemporary stuff, or "high church" type stuff. This church I'm going to now is pretty regiment in the songs they do, so you really can get into it.

From the Inside Out is a real good one too. We just brought that one into our rotation recently. We also do Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band, the occasional Todd Agnew song, among other stuff.

Glad to see that there are a few of us on this forum who share some of the same styles during Sundays. I haven't yet started to play any of these songs for a service yet, but I've practiced them A LOT! I'll just post a few of the songs we are doing:

Take It All
From The Inside Out - one of my favorites
Came To The Rescue
None But Jesus
Awesome Is The Lord Most High - that's from Passion
Evermore
Glory In The Highest
Hear Your People Cry
Let The Whole Word
Yours Is The Kingdom

Just a short list. We are getting ready to start doing Mighty To Save and have done a few other songs from that new CD, such as I Believe and Higher.

Blessings on you all!

Dave
