Church turned into a rock concert.

When I first moved to California in 2000 I attended my cousins church which seemed to have a very youthful mass. It wasn't something I was accustomed to at my church in Arizona which was much more traditional. I personally prefer the more traditional mass, so when I found this video it reminded me of my cousin's church and gave me a good laugh.

Have any of you had a similar experience?

That was awesome. I stopped going to "contemporary" worship services when they started dimming the lights on the congregation while the band worship team was playing.

Very well done!

A little painful

But makes great points. Nobody wants to get "played" wether it be secular or "message" of importance.

Jesus used sarcasm " Show me this... And I'll show you this..."

Genuine and real gets respect.

Be wise as serpents / innocent as doves..

Don't be played/stay true.

What about the teaching? Was it direct from the Bible or did they have some other "teaching" with Bible phrases sprinkled in to make it seem religious? I ask because it may not be wise to paint a church as being bad just because of their music or presentation. Wolves can be in sheep's clothing, but so can sheep.

Hey, I play in a Praise Band and I still think this is funny!!

It's actually quite an accurate portrayal of a good idea (contemporar music in a worship environment) gone horribly wrong.

You need to be really careful in a contemporary Praise Band. Your ego can get in the way and corrupt what should be a very fulfilling experience for most, if not all, involved.

I am an inactive member of a very large church that has a service just like this.

Initially the overproduced service did get my attention. I stuck around and actually learned some things from the message.

This video made me laugh... i hope it was their purpose.

Now im asking why i stopped going to church... i think the whole skip one weekend turned into two turned into 6 turned into ... me wondering why i haven't been to church lately. Hrmmmm ... now im thinking bout stuff...

Well, my guess is you stopped going because, despite their "production", it didn't connect with you.

In my experience and in my judgement, those big productions can reek of manufactured sincerity. It can come across as glib, artificial, and shallow.

Now, again, I am involved in Praise Ministry. I'm not slamming it. I see the humor in the video because it's so accurate.

There's a lot of gray areas in Praise Ministry. Tread carefully.
