We play mostly 50s-80s classic rock. We want to incorporate a few more recent covers. If you had to pick 3-4 songs since 1990 that meet the criteria of being:
- widely popular
- highly danceable
- good "party" songs

I think it's regional, to some extent. What's "new" here might be "classic" in a hip town.
I'd go check out a popular band that plays that kind of stuff, and see what's packing the dance floor.
Some songs from the 90s and 00s that work for my band (we do mostly 60s, 70s, 80s with a few newer things)
Life Is A Highway - Tom Cochrane (his original version has better bass lines than the Rascal Flatts cover)
Kryptonite - Three Doors Down
The Middle - Jimmy Eat World
Fast As You - Dwight Yoakam (always gets them dancing)
I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) - The Proclaimers (came out first in the late 80s and became a U.S. hit early 90s)
Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy - Big & Rich
Who Says You Can't Go Home - Bon Jovi
You Wreck Me - Tom Petty
I understand that Matchbox 20 and Hootie & The Blowfish tunes work well too.
Gimme Some Lovin' - Spencer Davis Group
ZZ Top - almost anything with a steady beat
Pipeline - people love it and seldom hear it
Pretty Woman - Roy Orbison

I've been getting a great response in a couple classic rock bands playing Sublime hits like Santeria. King of Leon hits go over well in a mixed crowd of 20 to 50 somethings. Also a few reggae hits like UB40 Red Red Wine is a good break from the old classic rock and blues tunes.
Dick Dead eyes- Mary Mo
Fall out Boy- Dance Dance (crappy song but gets people on the dance floor)
Collective Soul - Shine (seems to be a crowd pleaser)
