I browse the classifieds here much more than I should. One thing that annoys the crap out of me though is when people write 5000 words about how great the bass they're selling is, yet you have to read every word and search carefully through it all to find the price. I like to see 1. picture, 2. price, and then if I'm still interested I'll read the rest.
Please post your prices clearly. Don't bury them.
Anyone else on board with me here? |

Anyone else on board with me here? | I agree. I try to give a picture or two, and small description of each thing. However I always place my price at the end of each description. I never bury the price.

Another thing that drives me crazy is when they list a bass as a vintage piece and when you read through the ad you find out that it's a reissue.
If the bass is MIM, or a Squier, list that in the title of the ad. It saves those of us who are looking for MIA basses a lot of time.
Give some pictures, a brief description and the price.

I follow your advice generally because it saves me time.
I've thought it would be nice if the title field had a price field beside it, but people often put more than one item in a listing, so that wouldn't work. |

The price could be required in the title. Seperate box when creating a classified thread. While I'm going to guess there are probbably reasons some people wouldn't like this, I don't see any reason that wouldn't be beneficial. |

Pictures aren't required. But most people post em anyway. Tough to sell without.
If the price is dropped it could be changed in the title.

New thread: Classified (for sale) suggestion | Limiting one item per thread is a disastrously bad idea. Tons of people post multiple items for sale- in the Pedals and Accessories forums, they sometimes list up to a dozen things. We'd then having people bumping a dozen threads to the top of the forum every day rather than just one, and items will get pushed off the first page almost immediately.
Also, users can't change their thread titles after a short period,, so the Classifieds mods would be getting constant PM requests for title changes.
It also doesn't take into account that some items have multiple prices that include a straight sale price, prices that lower with certain trade items, and so on.
Rather than make the Classifieds much harder to use for everyone, the onus should be on the buyer to take a minimal effort to open the thread and read for a few seconds. |

A clean ad with a price in big, bold (or different colored) writing, with big detailed pictures is probably going to sell faster than an ad with a couple of tiny, fuzzy pics and a confusing description.
I don't think you can create a standardized format that won't confuse people/make everyone happy.

Hate seeing this, especially when the item you're looking at is perfect for what you're shopping for.

What REALLY chaps my hide are those that create threads about a week prior about "thoughts" on their bass or showing off their bass and what it really is is just basically a feeler before the sale actually starts. If you research you will find the habitual offenders.
Take a look at my __________. WOW! MUST SEE!
One week later.
Up for grabs ___________. WOW! MUST SEE!
