It's to house all the homeless bums that used to be grunge musicians that played the Satyricon in the '90s, back before the heroin caught up with them.

No They are going to demolish the building and build something new. Theres has to be a way to fight this right? I dont want to see a portland landmark go. I absolutely love this venue theres stickers from just about every band I have played in on the walls in there. What would you guys do if your favorite venue to play is getting torn down?

Short of buying the place and trying to run it as a profitable business there's not much that can be done.

When times changed, the wrecking ball came, this went--and a belated protest did nothing to stop it.

To make things worse, it seems that no one thought to take interior photos before it was knocked down.

The night after the preliminary demolition started I walked alone through the Colonial Tavern with a flashlight. The place was adorned with framed shots of the numerous greats who played there back-in-the-day. I didn't have a camera...

If you can, talk your way into Club Satyricon and photograph everything (then grab souvenirs) for posterity as a contribution to preserving culture in Portland.

Then share the photos on a Facebook group (which will likely flush out more shots from other folks as well) so that others can join you in remembering the good times you all had.

Competently, and seldom preserved examples of ordinary social life appreciate in their historical importance to future generations.

Look up Bronco Bowl, in Dallas. It was pretty much the coolest venue ever. It was torn down five or seven years ago. I still miss that place. It was the site of several of the best concerts I ever attended. It was the site of the coolest gig I ever played. And one day it was suddenly a pile of rubble.

How many concert halls do you know that have a separate bar, bowling alleys, and an archery range in side? Okay, I never actually saw the archery range. But about a thousand people kept telling me there was one in there.

Knocking down Satyricon? Why don't they just take CBGB's with them? Despite how horrible it is, there's not much that can be done.

An idea, however, is for this homeless shelter group to auction off stuff inside. Memories for everybody, more money for the shelter. Still, the best idea is for it to stay in its place untouched.

Man, you gotta be pretty damn low on the totem pole when you get bought out by a homeless shelter.
