Anyone out there have stubby thumbs like me? They go by many names, clubbed thumb, royal thumbs, the technical term:
brachydactylic.
Anyway, what it amounts to is a short thick thumb. We're out there, and people often never notice, but if you've got one (or two) YOU know it.
I think mine are much better than regular thumbs. Just ask anyone who has ever thumb wrestled me. I even have trophies. My super thumb also comes in very handy while playing bass. I have a whole world open up to me because of my stout, meaty clobberers. I can stick my thumb out and use it like a pick all nite and it never gets tired.
So, I've been noticing my clubbed thumb compatriots all over. My special lady friend has a pair, and one of my favorite guitards has a pair too.
Got me thinking, there must be some bassists out there with 'em and that got me wondering whether the rest of you thought of them as a bonus or a handicap.
Then I thought, "clubbed thumb club," and here I am.
So, bring it on Clubbed Thumbed bassists of TalkBass!!!
