Colored folk guitars?

I know this sounds racial, but I just stumbled upon this website somehow:

http://coloredfolkguitars.com/index.html

They stock some pretty crazy guitars and basses.

Jeez. What the hell? A part of me wants that eagle wing thing though.

EDIT: Could you describe their tone in words though?

I'd be afraid of puncturing a lung while playing the Eagle guitar. That doesn't look comfortable at all...

There was no racial motivation in posting this thread. I saw the link for it on craigslist, and clicked it. I thought it offered a lot of weird guitars, and thought it would make for a humorous thread. The whole website's concept is kind of rediculous, yet humorous. Yes, maybe "misc" might have been a better forum for it, but it is certainly "off topic" as well.

However, I would like to publicly apologize to any member that may have found this offensive. That was never my intention, and if it is against the forum rules in any way, please delete it and issue me an infraction.

I think you would have to be pretty thin skinned to take the OP's post as being derogatory to any particular group of people based on their perceived "race" or colour of skin. No doubt the ambiguity is there but I believe if anything that is the responsibility of the company, and the OP did make an obvious disclaimer at the beginning of his post.

Anyway....

The scenario.... I am holding an audition and some guy turns up with one of those.

Me: "hahahaahahahaha...ect.......hahahahahah.... and so on... now, where is your real guitar?"

Person with stupid guitar: "This is it"

Me: "Next"

Person with stupid guitar:"But I can play like Alan Holdsworth"

Me: "I don't care, at least Alan Holdsworth doesn't have a stupid looking guitar"

Well you might beg to differ on Alan Holdsworth not having a stupid looking guitar. But there is no way I am going to play with someone that walks about on stage with a machine gun for example....get the picture?

Dude, live a little! It will make you a better, and more popular band if you're guitarist is controversial. Who wants boring, average, common, and predictible?

Or it might make me look like I associate with boneheads. I prefer to "live a little" by not looking like I play with numbskulls in the process. If that's your thing, then who am I to stop you, dude?

By the way, if the only way for me to avoid being boring average and predictable is to be open to someone with obviously no sense of aesthetic that I can relate to playing what I consider to be a stupid looking guitar that probably sounds terrible anyway, then my music is worthless anyway.

I agree with you 100%. Unless I'm in some novelty band (which I wouldn't be) I refuse to be onstage with some bonehead playing a guitar shaped like an AK-47 (or eagle, lobster, bottle opener, map of the USA, Betty Boop etc..) and make myself part of a laughingstock. Having fun is one thing, being made fun of is another.

Maybe if the money was right and I didn't have to reveal my identity. Still the money would have to be pretty damn good.
