Coloured ball ends on string's

Hiya i know this is a weird question but what strings have the coloured balls . I have seen loads of basses with them on and never knew what company made them. I think the colours consist of red, green, yellow .... or somthing like that.

I ve always thought it was funny as hell, supporting the "all bassists are dumb" theory, to have the balls painted and explanation on the box (i.e e-string - red etc)
so we could put the strings on correctly

I think they look snazzy. I also like having silk binding match with my bass. The purple binding of smith strings just look great on a black bass.
