Wasn't sure where to post this.
Does anyone use these together on their bass? I've been advised that I probably wouldn't need both together, as the Comfort Strapps have two holes at each end to go over the buttons, which is usually secure enough. So, I was wondering what the general consensus was, so that I know if I should just buy some bigger buttons or still go with the Straplocks.
Also, I've noticed that a few people have been caught out on the length of the Comfort Strapp (because of the design) and wondered roughly how much extra I need to allow for? I've worked out that I need a length of 37" (hole to hole) using a cheap thin strap, so I am thinking I might need to get a medium Comfort Strapp.
Any help would be great.

It works fine.
I've never even thought of using both holes in the ends of the Comfort Strapp. lol! I assumed those were there for height preference! LOL!

They work great but the double hole thingy sucks worse than a standard, single one The Strapp WITH Straplocks work great, just cut the second hole off. You CANNOT get the Straplock to go through two layers. |

The only bass I don't have the Dunlops on is my Steinberger, which has strap buttons molded into the plastic pivot plate, and thus cannot be used with the Dunlops. I use the "long" size, which is the medium length one. I'm 6'3" and wear my bass about in the middle.
As for the two holes, I just use the second one, and shorten the strap length slightly. |

I agree with the guy that said one hole is worse than two. However I have my straplocks going through both holes, didn't have to cut one off, it was a pain in the ass but it's do-able. |

And have you tried Neotech strapps? Cheaper than comfort straps, just as comfortable, but wayyyyyyy less bouncy. I find those things are like having a car with no shocks - boing boing boing...the Neotechs have a little give over the shoulder, but that's it, the rest of the strap doesn't stretch.
And they're about $20.00 cheaper!
Just a thought.

Cameron | So, tell me about this Neotech strap. It's not the same as the one Fender had a few years ago is it? My experience with that one was that it was a LOT more bouncy than the Comfort Strapps, and not nearly as good at holding a heavy bass comfortably. But if this is something new in the last three years or so, I'd be interested in more info.
Thanks!
John

Any help would be great. | I've been doing this for years. I install the straplocks in the 'top hole', and then just trim off the lower hole portion.
This strap has held everything from boat anchor weight Fodera's and Celinder Updates to my current moderate weight basses for years with no issues. |

John | That was my experience also. The Comfort Strapp has VERY little bounce, and just that little bit of give that eases the weight of an instrument. Wonderful strap, IMO. |

| | | | I use Schallers through the top hole. Works great. I didn't trust the two hole thing with my T40. I wouldn't bet that it can hold that beast up.

| | | | Thanks for all the advice. I'll stick to my original plan of getting both.
I just wish that the Dunlops came in the Cosmo Black finish to match the hardware on my Ibanez. |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Memphis, TN | | I have 5 or 6 Comfort Strapps. Been using them for a long time, and up until about a year or so ago, I had Schaller strap locks on all my instruments.
The Schaller's work very well, but I ended up selling all of the Schallers because the little rubber washers (I think they're actually called "neoprene") work just as well. And they're only about a dollar at a hardware store for a set of two. Just slip your strap over the strap button and put one of the washers on the outside of the strap. Instant strap locks. They won't fall off, but can be easily removed if you want to take the strap off.
This pic is obviously with a Strat. But that's because you can see the washer more easily than you can on a Comfort Strapp. It blends right into a Comfort Strapp:
Here's one on a Comfort Strapp:

... really freakin' hard. But it can indeed be done, I've done it on one of the 3 Comfort Strapps I use.
And to the OP: imho it's an All-Or-Nothing proposition. You can't use a Comfort Strapp without a StrapLock if you ever intend to remove your strap, because those double-hole thingies are too difficult to remove for the first week you own the Comfort Strapp, and then after just a few on& off cycles they suddenly become too loose to securely stay on the bass! On my Comfort Strapps that don't have StrapLocks I've had to jury-rig large washers to prevent the strap ends from coming off the strap buttons...but then those straps never get removed from those basses. |

John | I've used them since then. Great stuff. Google it.

It's not too hard, you just have to push down on the big washer kind of hard.
It feels super secure now. I have 3 straps with dunlops, and they are solid now.
