I'm looking for a comfortable bass strap but one that's not leather being that I'm vegan. Can you reccomend one?

Thanks

What's this doing in the bassists forum...?
Anyway, I bought the Sadowsky Neo Strap, and that is the most comfy strap I've ever used. I was also looking at the NeoTech Strap, but they are not allowed in Australia for some reason :S

I've got a couple of neotech's - they're great, but the ends are leather (as on pretty much every decent strap I've owned).

Yeah, those end-tabs are the unfortunate thing, because the Neotechs are otherwise non-leather and very, very comfortable. I haven't tried the Comfort Strapp yet though, so I don't know about its end-tabs.

^^^ yeah, the end tabs on a Comfort Strapp are leather also. I have three of those, find them wonderfully comfortable.

Screw cows, what have they ever done for me?

I can't find the name of the manufacturer of mine, but I picked up a pleather strap lined with imitation fur a while back, about 4-5 inches wide. It made my bass seem 5 pounds lighter.

Thanks guys. There is a vegan guitar strap company called Couch but they don't do a heavy duty strap. http://www.couchguitarstraps.com/

I am a big fan of Sadowsky straps. Probably the most comfortable I've ever worn. My only complaint - which is a showstopper for me - the end openings are too big to hold Dunlop straplocks.

The way I see it, leather is a by-product, so live with it! (he says with tongue firmly planted in cheek)

I havent had to get a new strap in a while (I've gone vegan since), but I would say try and make one. Next time I'm in the market for one, that's what I plan on doing.

After developing an odd rash in the exact location where my strap rubs on my neck, I went to my local Walmart's automotive section and bought one of those useless seatbelt pads. It appears to be a synthetic leather (made in China so it could be melamine infused lead paint for all I know) split tube with velcro along the seam to envelop my strap. Works like a charm.

Are the sadowsky straps just rebranded neotechs or are they different?

Yep, that's what came to my mind too. I've got 2 of them and both do the job quite comfortably.
