How far do you drive to rehearsal? Are there other obstacles (besides gear & woodshedding) you willingly overcome to make music with others?
For myself, the most talented group I have found is a 28 mile drive...one way. They are good, have good listening skills, and are constantly improving. I am only doing a 'sit-in' gig for them so I don't mind much of the work involved. Still contemplating the commute = joining them full time.

I used to date a girl that lived 45 miles away. I'd drive up there on Friday night and come home Sunday evening. That was worthwhile.......

I may have to make the commute if we do a Sunday thing. Before when we used a rented space I drove about 21 miles.
I like this much better. It is closer for three of the other four members. Our drummer has to drive further.

They're good and they rehearse once a week. They gig about 1-2 times a month. I'd prefer to work a bit more...but that may come. It depends upon how you build these things.

Let me know if you want to give up the eastside gig. Where are you guys playing, maybe I'll come check you out. Also, there has been a guy posting for a bass player in your area quite frequently on CL, for a cover pop/rock band. |

With bad traffic on weekends, it can take well over an hour each way, which almost drove me to quit. But then the leader fired the guitarist whose work schedule dictated the weekend practices, so now it's not so bad.

I am actively looking for another gig. Kissing lotsa frogs.
One band I tried out for was a great group of folks but the guitar player was nearly invisible sound-wise. Yep, hard to believe. He commuted 2x as far as I did, to not be heard!
