Considering a few gig bag options (Incase, Sadowsky, and IGIG)

Hello Everyone,

I have been browsing talkbass for quite a while now, but finally registered today in an attempt to find the answer to a question concering a few gig bags.

I own a musicman sterling 4-string bass and recently purchased a GK MB2-500. I love the protection my musicman hardcase offers, but it can be awkward to move in and out of cars and doorways. Also, I like the idea of carrying my GK head in the same bag as my bass. With this said, I have been considering a few bags with the hopes of finding a bag with hardcase-like protection and a large enough pocket for my mb2-500 head.

After searching TB, I have narrowed my gig bag search to the following:

Incase Slim Bag - Offers the most protection, but I'm leery of the pocket space, as I haven't found anyone who has testified that a micro amp would fit in the top pocket (I like the fact that the pocket it "rigid" though).

Sadowsky Portabag - Seems to offer ALMOST as much protection as the Incase, and a larger, non-rigid, pocket (is this my best bet?)

IGIG (I forget the model number, 515?) - Built for carrying lots of stuff! I'm not sure about the protection it offers though (perhaps more gig-bag that "hybrid" that I would like). However it seems like it would be much easier to carry one of these than the latter two?

Does anyone know if the GK mb2-500 (or any other micro amp?) will fit in the Incase slim's top pocket?

All recommendations welcomed (other brands too!)

Thanks in advance for any help TBer's!

Check out the Undercover Bag. I've had my double bag for many years, and it's held up very well. I haven't tried to stuff my WTX-500 in the pocket, but it might fit. They make singles, too. Bass Central sells them.

I've got an iGig and it's awesome. You can go camping with that thing, lol. It offers the most protection of any gigbag I've EVER seen and of course pocket space like hammer pants . They're really built to last too. I'd never think about trying to beat up the bag but accidents do happen and when they pop up this thing takes the hits like a champ and keeps on going. There is a slight trade off though: These are heavy bags. Loaded up they can approach and probably surpass case weights but with the backpack straps it's not nearly as bad as carrying it with your hand.

Hmm interesting. Thanks for the info guys, I will look more into the Undercover and IGIG bags. I like the look and features of the IGIG, but I was worried about the lack of protection (however, Kwesi, your post has made me reconsider the IGIG because of your praise of its protection).

Does anyone have any comments on the Incase or Sadowsky regarding the MB2-500 fitting in the pockets?

Thanks!

Check out the Reunion Blues Continental. They threw one off the roof of a 3 story building a couple times [with a strat in it] and it was undamaged and even still in tune... [see the youtube vid]

I bought the bassversion and love it. and that GK MB would fit in the pocket. And bunch of other really cool features. Go check the demo videos on their site.
