Considering running a bass competition here on TalkBass...

The idea was brewing in my head today. I was jumping on my trampoline, letting my mind wander. I came to an idea that could potentially be successful and also potentially be a disaster.

I was thinking I would have three judges (myself being one), and two other gracious members helping out. Basically, I would post a main video on YouTube, explaining the rules, specifics and whatnot and have people create their own bass lines/instrumentals.

Participants would video themselves playing a self-made song entirely on bass, with a backing track and whatnot.

The participant will use different riffs/bass lines and rhythm to compose a song for viewing. The video will be posted as a video response to my main video.

I really don't know what I just said, but hopefully it makes sense. Anyone care to help evolve it to a better format or add on to ideas and such?

I am also thinking the prize for the winner will be like a $25 gift certificate to like MusiciansFriend.

Look forward to responses!

As long as it isn't a wankfest. I think it would be cool.

I would make it based on a song and just add their own bassline or something. Base it on groove and originality, tone things like that. Not "OH they can strum 30 notes per second! They win"
