copyright on youtube?

Sign in to disble this ad
a couple of months ago one of our vids on youtube had a youtube warning on the download page next to the vid, matched to 3rd party copyright warning, but then it went on to say, nothing is to be done at this point in time etc. i have kept an eye on it but nothing since. I also tried changing the title and reposting it, still came up. Firstly i am wondering what technology they use to detect the content and should i be worried?...i heard they just blank out the sound or it gets deleted. Anyone else had this issue?

I haven't had this issue but I always copyright and trademark anything I am invloved with before I make it public. My brother is an intellectual property attorney and works for a high profile firm. Whenever I have questions, I call him.

You automatically own the copyright on anything you put into a fixed medium at the moment you so do. Proving when that event took place is a separate issue. So is the difference between the music you perform (probably copyrighted if a cover) and the performance of that music (which is original to you).

I've had the issue. It said nothing needed to be done, so I did nothing. It's still there.

The worst that will happen is that it will be deleted for copyright infringement. You will NOT get sued. Don't even worry about it.

We had a cover (or part of a cover) of a George Thorogood song as part of a medley on Youtube for demo purposes. One day it just wasn't there. No big deal. I've got other stuff.
