i'm looking for instrumental jazz fusion bands similar to dark hall and weather report. does anyone have any good suggestions? thanks in advance.

Maybe:
Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea
Jaco Pastorius' early stuff.

2 new to me bands I've been enjoying lately are:
Bangtower
The Aristocrats
Both most excellent bass players too, Percy Jones and Bryan Beller. Both very different players for sure.
Not really at all like the 2 bands you asked, but these bands I definitely consider modern fusion.
