Could this BE??!? The BEST lapsteel for METAL!!?!
I am speechless and awed all at once.
it isn't black. and besides, nobody but the player can see it.
and there's no low A. ;)
It's got strap buttons so it's either a lap steel made for gyrating while in use, or it is in fact the "Power Slide" conventional guitar the name on the headstock claims it to be. That it also has a C shaped neck and a handy nut/slide holder instead of a nut/bar holder tends me to vote for funky Peavey version of what they consider the "ultimate" slide guitar.
As for best lap steels for metal, I once owned a Fender lap steel that was (brush) painted flat black with (freehand) BRIGHT red diamonds and stars randomly applied that sounded like it was soaked in rancid chicken fat. It sounded NASTY in the right hands and came nestled in a homemade plywood case lined with red satin and covered in real rattlesnake skin and both liner and cover were held in by a continuous string of those dome topped studs you used to see on old pieces of leather furniture. I got it from a snake handling preacher who had fallen from grace and needed some cash for a bottle of MD 20/20. I traded him 3 bottles of MD for it and passed it on to my brother. He played the crap out of it for a few years, but wound up trading it for a perfect trans red SG. I was not crazy about him trading it without asking me, but after he decided he liked his old strat better he sold the SG for a big pile of cash and I did like that so it all worked out in the end.
But it's pointy.....?
It's just raw.. needs cooking in matte black paint and needs stickers and a dude making musical facial grimaces while feeding back through a Marshall LapSteel 9000 stack.
Here's a good demo/review on it.
