Coupons for MF or GC

Sign in to disble this ad
So, I kinda like the new fender Modern Player Tele; but I kinda don't want to actually spend much on one.

How does one get a coupon for MF or GC for some substantive amount that would net a better price?

They have 15% off coupons pretty regularly. You just have to wait. There was one black friday and there will likely be another before christmas.

My best source is to just keep an eye on the Hot Deals forum on here. When a good one comes up, it is invariably posted there. It is in the form of a coupon code that you plug into your order form during cart checkout.

I've also had luck just googling MF or GC coupon codes.

Possibly more to your point though....they do email specific ones out to specific people. Once you have ordered from them and are on their email list or snail mail list you will occasionally get them. I've only received one or two this way and I've bought from them for many years.

They email me with the deals, since I am on their emailing list. I bet you could go sign up for their deal notifications online right now.

I got a 20% off deal about two years ago from MF. I think it
was a 4th of July weekend special. I really took advantage of
it. I saved a lot of money. I haven't seen the deal since.
Sometimes, I feel like I single handedly killed the 20% deals.

Now, they are usually 10 or 15% -- and even the 15% deals
are hard to find. Sometimes they are just $100 off of $800+ orders.
That approaches 15% but doesn't quite get there.

I ordered a Hofner Icon last night from MF, used 2 coupon codes I found that worked and saved nearly 20%. My order status still says "In Process" which, if I were a conspiracy theorist or something, would lead me to think maybe I "got away with something" and they're stalling. Those orders are usually processed and shipped very quickly, no delays. I half-expect an email saying "We're sorry but we can't process your order". :/

EDIT: It looks like today MF is doing 15% off on any single item over $199 if you phone in the order to 800.391.8602 and use the code "SAVENOW11". Also free shipping.

I bought guitar at GC last month and told the sales person that I'd like a discount. He asked if I could get email on my phone. I told him "yes", then he proceeded to email me a $100 discount coupon with a code that he needed to type in.

So just like that - $100 off a $600 purchase.

I bought things online as simple as picks from MF and strings from GC and now they send me mail and catelogs all the time!

Most of the time there are some sort of coupons or promo codes to use to save on a specific brand or item or sometimes on anything in the whole stores respectively (with a preset minimum purchase amount most of the time of course). You may even be able to find these codes or coupons on their websites too.

I went back to buying my picks and strings from the local ma n' pop place though. Gotta remember the little guys.

You can usually call them up and ask for 15% off. They know they run 'specials' every month for roughly the same amount, so just ask for it and you'll likely get it.

That said, if you're ordering online then do so through MF. GC has recently been adding a **** ton of tax to each of their orders. I'm not sure if it's an issue I'm having just because I'm in Tennessee, but MF never adds tax to my orders and GC always does. I usually save over $20 just from that alone.

I think the deal is if there is a brick and mortar version of the store in your state, they now have to tax you.

MF also started to add taxes, at least here in California. Amazon does not, so that's where my business now goes.

One thing I've noticed about MF's online coupons is that there are a ton of exclusions to them. Looking at their list, pretty much anything I am interested in buying is excluded from the coupons, which is annoying.

Here's the list: Offer Exclusions

Fender, Peavey, Ampeg, all sorts of stuff. I don't know how you guys are getting these coupon codes to work.
