cover concept

so i had an idea to form a cover band (more remaking than covering, actually.. read on) based on a few songs that play thru the house system at my work.

i never really paid lots of attention to the 50's early 60's genre of rock, except for the obvious big big hits that you just hear a million times growing up. the music subscription channel that my corporate overlords force us to listen to all day used to be predominately that genre, so naturally i listened to alot of it for a while.

i noticed that, being quite dated in terms of subject matter, alot of the lyrical content could be really scary in todays world. holy crap easily more than half of those songs are (by today's standards) about statutory rape or stalking, or both!

this got me thinking about some kind of metalish revised versions of these songs, reworked with the intent of sounding and feeling really creepy and disconcerting. i came up with a name for the band, t.r.o. (temporary restraining order). here's a songlist - work in progress- of songs that could be easily reworked into creepy (the not good kind):

you're 16, you're beautiful, and you're mine
i put a spell on you
hey there little red riding hood
hot child in the city
let me be your teddybear
every breath you take
p.y.t.
fire
good morning little schoolgirl
chantilly lace

there are lots of others from the 50's thru 90's- even newer. suggestions welcome, but i prefer to seek out songs that may not have been intended to be questionable, but could be without changing lyrics, just the tone of the lyrics and feel of the song.

i'd love to make this project work- if for nothing else for kicks. so load up this thread with your ideas if you please...

i was actually thinking hendrix's fire. or is it let me stand next to your fire? whatever. and yes, it's supposed to be alarming/shock-factor type stuff. gimmicky, yeah, but totally fun to make folks uncomfortable with subject matter.
ever heard of eatafetus trio?

I was thinking about "Christine Sixteen" by Kiss a few months ago. I was 15 when it came out, so I had no problem with it. Actually loved the song. Now that I'm 49 it's just really creepy.

50's-early 60's music is all about sex and death. I think it's a nice concept for a band.

speaking of christine sixteen, wasn't there a newer one called domino, basically the same thing--- and somewhat disturbing to think that gene had a daughter when kiss did that one....

and let's not forget that biologically, we (men) are hardwired to find youthful females attractive, and that merely 100 or less years ago what we today feel is wrong (and i agree was wrong) was somewhat normal. i was thinking along the lines of that billie jean cover somebody did recently, not changing the lyrics, but reworked it into a much darker feel. genius. i'm not endorsing or condoning the behavior (see-chris hanson- a hero in my mind), but something about dark uncomfortable sounding songs really gets to my core. like tom waits is a good example of someone who is really able to make you feel the mood of the subject matter, not just some music to put behind lyrics.
