I found a Jay Turser JTB-440, Stingray copy, for $65 on Craig's List.
I contacted the guy and set up to meet at his job, about 30 minutes from my work, but the opposite direction from my house.
Turns out it did not look as good as on the photo, neck was warped but I thought "ok, for $65 still room for upgrades and a setup at the shop". Plus it came with a hard case (with a key, which is rare).
When I put the money down the guy said "Wow, no, it's listed for $120, if you want I can show you the ad on Craig's, I have it right here on my computer".
I said I only had $80 (I had more but on general principles I was not ready to pay more than that). He refused to go down in price, and I left.
Turns out I HAD MADE A SCREEN CAP of the ad (now removed and conveniently replaced with a new one):
Attachment 118185
So once home, I sent him an email with the screen cap. Now he pretends that's not his bass.
Except the sent items in my Yahoo mail shows exactly that Craig's List reply address as in the ad. And his first reply quoted that very email. Plus his Yahoo email address is something like "craiglist12345@yahoo.com", which shows that he has some sort of deal selling crap (one may wonder the origin of) on Craig's.
Some human turds, I swear.
I will never meet someone at a neutral location to buy anything ever again. If I meet, it will be at their home. And I will always make sure we have the price right on the phone before taking off.
I think I was a bit too greedy. A nice Turser MM copy for $65
