It really gets my goat!! I recently read a post that described an ad response that's almost verbatim to mine.
Sunday morn I advertised my Dragonfly Fretlless, complete with 4 detailed photos. A couple hours later I got the following response. Hello Seller,
Is this item still available for sale?kindly get back to me as soon as possible, so that i can make an immediate purchase of the item..
Thanks
tyalor
Just like some others I've seen, the merchandise is referred to as the item. i replied, telling him to call me on my cell phone, but no call came.
Three hours later, another email (notice how it was duplicated within the body of the same email): Hello Seller,
Is this item still available for sale?kindly get back to
me as soon as possible, so that i can make an immediate purchase of
the item..
Thanks
tyalor

Now, Monday morning, I receive another email: Hello
This really sounds good and am very happy for the quick response.I would like to purchase it from you as soon as possible if you will like to sell to me.Whats the item condition?
I will make the payment via money order and upon the confirmation and clearance of payment,my shipper will come for the pick-up at your location. Moreover i have no problem waiting for the money order to be verified at your bank and i will be responsible for the shipment of the item.
Attach a pic of the item and get back to me with the following details so i can make out the payment IMMEDIATELY.
1: Your Full Name to be on the payment
2: Your Address and zip code
3: Your cell phone number
I will advice that you withdraw the ad from the web.
Hope to read back from you soon.
Best Regard
I actually had another seemingly bogus response to the same ad. I put my phone # in replies to both inquiries, but no one's bothered to make the call
It just pisses me off!!

The part that makes me chuckle is these emails come flooding in asking "is this still available?" almost immediately after the posting is made. |

I get a lot of nonsense emails too, with periods in the wrong place and all that. Those are designed to confirm and gather email addresses to sell. These are the kind you get if you put "cash only" in your add.
If you don't put cash only, then you get the one you posted.
The 3rd one I got was something like
Hi, I am so glad you have one of these for sale, I've been looking to get my husband one for months! I don't want to make a mistake like last time, so look at this video and make sure its the same exact thing.
Then you're supposed to click the link to the video, the video says "you don't have the right codec, please download to watch the video" and you then download a virus.

I usually have an alternate free email account for craigslist... just for irritating retarded posters who overcharge and responding to scams like this with whatever creative insults I can think of.

When I get those, I respond "Get lost, scammer."

Don't click on links from an email, ever. |

Well, this is the first time I've posted on Craigslist in several years, and didn't get all that spam then.
A friend of mine just puts his phone # in the initial ad, and says that keeps the phishing responses to a minimum for him.
