crowd pleasing song

I have recently joined a band and we would like to learn some simple, crowd pleasing songs: 'Boys Don't Cry' being a good one.

Any suggestions?

Lightning Crashes - Live.

Always seems to go down a treat if my band plays it. Deadly simple.

The songs you hate to play the most are the ones the crowd loves the most. See above.

Into "woo" land. It's a place where the entire language is the word "woo!" screamed as loud and frequently as possible.

Inevitably the language evolves to stories on how they used to ride their hogs (which were really 65cc Yamahas) through shark-infested waters slaying anyone who got in their way.

It also brings out the infamous "I puked drinking sloe-gin listening to this song once" stories.

Oh, and there's usually a pretty glazed look in their eyes.

What are your crowds like? So much depends on that. One might respond to You Light Up My Life (that would be a real touch of hell!), another might get a rush out of Heart of the Sunrise, another for Won't Get Fooled Again, etc.

Painfully true

Sweet Home Alabama
Mustang Sally
Johnny B Goode

The crowd loves them, but they make me want to hurt myself.

For young people, almost any pop song (like Metro Station... not very good but people like them...) and for older/more mature crowds just play something like "Day Tripper" or "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" by the Beatles.
