It makes me wonder how much else was just plain wrong in other articles.

When I bought a guitar from Carl a few years ago, it had one of those bridges. If my memory serves, he said it was an extra $2000 or $2500. The bridge is a beautiful and functional piece of art. As for Carls' basses being mega-expensive, I still think he undercharges compared with some other builders out there. It sounds crazy to say that when a bass costs $4,500 - but as most players know, you can spend ALOT more on a four string bass.  |
