When I was a youngin', I rode the bus to school in Pontiac MI. It's still a rough & tumble town, beset by the on & off layoffs and hardships of the auto industry.

The bus driver Ms. Batisse used to play this record all the time. It's still rocks.

The Bass Player is spot on. The song, is still relevant.

A blues band I'm in does that as one of our covers. Oh yeah...great song.

Great song and I love most everything Mayfield has done. Shame about the awful keyboard sounds on that live version though.

On the Curtis Mayfield tip - check out his song Trippin' out sometime. Very cool changes and a groovin' bass line that just gets under your skin in a good, good way!

The whole soundtrack to Superfly is one of m all time favorite albums and IMO one of the best soundtracks ever.
