Dad starting guitar...

I'm getting my dad a guitar for Christmas. Would you recommend he start on a nylon or steel string acoustic? He's 49 years old and enjoys stuff like Bob Denver, Kansas, etc.

pick up a nice Seagull steel string. Sweet tone, easy to fret, quality construction, great guitar for the money.

Definately steel string unless he's got a passion for classical stuff and hasn't said anything...
