Damaged Speaker Cone (Hifi)

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey folks

Shock and horror I have just bought a new amp a lovely Kenwood K 1010 and hooked it up to my home brew speakers bearing 6.5'' Kef Drivers and Mission Tweeters

These were previously hooked up to a Samson Serve 170 Power Amp...so the obvious sound difference was immense..

However I can now hear distortion through my right speaker which I never heard before on closer inspection it would appear the cone has split..along with a nice indentation to indicate a savage swipe from my feline friend (bloody cats)

The cone is made of rubber as is the surround...

I don't want to have to ditch these but the distortion is apparent and further use will only make it worst.

What is the best way of fixing this type of problem....?

Any help would be greatly apprecaited..

Update

I have fixed my speaker,

After doing some research on various forums it would seem the ideal solution was to raid my partners dressing table and find some clear Nail Polish

Applied a bit to front and rear of the cone and allowed to set, then repeated with a second coat about an hour later.

The result..

It Chuffing Worked

Distortion has now gone and sounds as it should..

I know its all about Digital feeds but you just can't beat a quality amp matched with good speakers..

Who needs 7.1
