I was talking to a guy about a band, with some really cool guys doing music I'd really like to play. Turns out the guitarist had someone lined up already. Dangit.

No, for bass, I tune, and I play. The tone knob is the only thing I usually fiddle with every once in a great while. Most of my tones are in how I play, not what knobs I can play with.

That's funny. Odd how that could relate to my situation...

Leave your business card/email address with the guy. Keep in touch with them. You never know how long things will last.

Maybe get their set list and learn all their tunes. Make some charts with lyrics and all.

Also think about checking them out at a couple of their gigs to get a sense of what their doing.

If you're ready to go with all their songs and they ever need a bass player, you'll probably get the gig.
