I heard a snippet of it a few days ago. He really plays up the southern accent, don't he?

I've noticed a striking resemblance between what passes as "country" music now and 90s pop for quite awhile, so I wasn't exactly surprised.

I was wondering why I've got that 'hold my hand' song stuck in my head- and it dawned on me that I'd read the thread title.

I had to listen to the entire album at work (I work at a CD store), a lot of it sounded exactly like Hootie and the Blowfish, which isn't a surprise. Eh, a couple OK tracks, but I'm not really a fan.

I work with a guy who listens to a lot of "new country" and it ALL sounds like either Hootie and the Blowfish or Whitney Houston. All of it.

I've been curious about hearing some of this. I'm a big fan of his voice. This is quite the departure from his previous solo album that featured Jill Scott, Snoop Dogg, etc.

He actually sounds a little bit like Dwight Yoakum. Kinda.

I heard that tune on the local Frederick station WMZQ this afternoon. They said it's #1! You go, Hootie! I mean Darius.

He's from S.Carolina.I think he's not so much playing it up, as he used to play it down

I like the older school country sound he has going on, but his voice sounds rather unremarkable in this context, IMHO. I do give him points for articulating though.
