Day jobs and pricey basses

I gotta ask this because I keep seeing you guys shell out more than $2500 for axes.

What do you fine gentlemen(and women) do for semi-indentured servitude during daylight hours that allows you to collect such finely crafted timber?

I'm guessing most people on TB don't have kids.

I'm sure the members here span the whole econmic range, as far as disposable income is concerned. Many are pro musicians, with sponsers in some cases. I personally do not have any freebies, but earn enough to spend a little here and there.

I make nice $$ from my day job. However, I'm fortunate enough to also have a steady music gig that paid for my Smith, Sadowsky and the rest of my gear. BTW I do have a wife and T'weenage daughter.

I'm a fireman, with kids. I don't really go for the pricey stuff, but if I was really hot for a big dollar bass, I'd just ask President Obama for a little musical stimulus money and tell him that it will help a bunch of folks in Corona CA and Scottsdale, AZ.

Looking like I'm more of an average Joe on here than most; married, 3 boys under 12 and 15 years into a Navy career. (aka almost broke! HAHA!)

I think you'll find that the vast majority of TBers do not, in fact, buy $2500+ basses. I have a pretty decent day gig, but I haven't spent more than $1500.

ETA: Of those that do, I think you'll find a real mix of people. Some have high-paying jobs, yes, but others own "just" 1 or 2 basses (I have 6 including my cheap old Ibby), and some are very good at saving and/or don't spend money on other vices/hobbies/whatever.

Be sure and tell him that they're about to foreclose on your bass!

Not too many teens can afford $2500+ basses though.
