I don't play death core.

But just because you're playing heavy music doesn't mean you have to follow the guitars.

What is this "Deathcore" you speak of? Is it Scenegrind or something?

You pretty much play breakdowns all the time, or something like that. And a 6 string is good for when you need to follow the 7-string player who is downtuned to like F#.

I kid, I kid. It's mostly like any other sort of death metal. You can either follow the guitarist or not, whatever fits with your jams best.

Why do you assume that the bass follows the guitar and not vice versa?

Please, please, please do not follow the guitars. I'm sick of listening metal players follow the guitarist(s) bat-blindly. Do something different. Play some contrapuntal melodies, for example. See if it works. Upload some stuff for us to hear, too!

I forgot about the fact that pretty much anything -core invovles scene kids in one way or another.

We need to reclaim the 'core' suffix from these strange haired, brightly coloured, malnourished creatures...

Protest The Hero.
Although they may not be considered as deathcore, check them out. You're sure to learn a thing or two about "core" bass if you listen to their bassist Arif.
