A couple weeks ago I put a bunch of stuff up for sale or trade, looking for a Dingwall. Well I didn't end up with a Dingwall out of that deal, but I did at least sell one bass and trade another for a really nice Matt Pulcinella MPG Level 5 that's in transit at the moment. So I ended up moving one bass, which is a good thing! Then I see the much feared Dingwall Ad here on Talkbass and completely LOST MY MIND. I had to check my bank balance to be sure I could afford it. Now I also have a beautiful Afterburner I on the way. So ok, now I have TWO, count em TWO very nice basses that will arrive next week. Like I really needed that! Where am I gonna put two more basses? I don't really know!
So today I was checking out some stuff playing through different amps etc, and I decided I needed something from the music closet. Music closet? Who has that? I gotta be crazy. I know a lotta you folks have more stuff, but today it hit me. This is out of hand. I sorta knew it for a while and I've told myself before that I shouldn't do that, but today it really hit me hard and I made two basic rules for myself...
1) If you have to check the bank account before buying something, it's GAS! Don't do that, you don't want to be surviving on ramen for the last three days before payday.
2) If you have to figure out where you're gonna put it because all the usual spaces are full, it's GAS!, get rid of something first. In fact, get rid of something right now to make room, you never know what may come up!
Oh wait, rule #2 is kind of enabling isn't it? Sheesh, I guess I'm just really bad at this.
GAS... When you don't need it, can't afford it, and don't have room for it but you want it anyway? You got GAS buddy!
