i felt weird doing this..im a senior in high school. a kid in my chorus class (a freshmen) that i met a few days ago was talking about bass-related things (i heard him say bootsy when i jumped into the conversation) and he mentioned how he just got his first bass 2 months ago, and hes into victor and all that. he had only heard the name jaco and diddnt know any of his music. so today i lent him my copy of jacos self-titled album, wich is, to many of us, the "bible of bass." i know it changed my life when an older kid (friend of a friend) tossed me a copy of that CD...and now i'm "that kid" to someone else.

that album alone is what made music change from just a very passionate hobby to a lifestyle. it made me want to study music more in depth, rather than just funk with what came easy. if i hadent heard it earlier i probobly wouldent be going to college as a music major.

i dont know why but i felt compelled to share this with the TB community..

Passing on one's knowledge is a time honored tradition. Good job!

Did you mention TB to him? That's what TB is all about.

The sad thing is that he is going to take that CD home and burn it and never pay a dime for it.

At this point, I doubt that Jaco will care very much. The RIAA on the other hand...
