Did some trail blazing today, and guess what I cut down...

Well, I help out at my local botanical garden to help trail blaze from time to time. Today we were clearing out all these "saplings" (some were at least 20' tall), and among all the trees, we actually cut down one 20' Rock Maple. The bottom quarter of it was probably thick enough to get a neck blank or two out of. But man, it was pretty damn heavy!

Nah, they were going to just burn it. Besides, I don't have the means to get it quarter-sawn. It was slightly crooked to begin with, so it would have had a very odd grain pattern (not to mention a ton of heartwood).
