So will a young child be more interested in a guitar?
And whts the diffrance between bass and guitar? instead of it haveing two extra strings. |

Pretty good at winding people in though |

And don't forget to actually learn either of the instruments if you wish to teach it. I heard it makes it a bit easier.

You'll just have to wait and see.
Put it this way, the bass should not be called a "guitar" at all IMO, but a bass "instrument". Only thing they have in common is their shape.

Left hand technique is virtually the same, with only minor differences in right hand technique.
In fact, the bass guitar has more in common with the guitar than it does with the double bass (they share similar roles, but the only commonality there is how the strings are tuned).
Oh, and moved to Miscellaneous.

| I agree - sounds like "the blind leading the blind"...?
Different octaves, differnet purpose, different scale lengths, different strings, different techniques etc. etc. ... I could go on...

And whts the diffrance between bass and guitar? instead of it haveing two extra strings. | While you're waiting until he's five, YOU could work on your spelling, seriously, and I mean that in the best possible way.

Oh, and moved to Miscellaneous. | Exactly. I don't understand why some people are so insistent that our instrument is not a guitar. "Bass guitar" describes exactly what it is pretty much perfectly.
Just saying "bass" or "bass instrument" isn't anywhere near as informative. Ask a tuba player if you want clarification.
It's a guitar, people. Please, learn to love it.

You are also working in a different octave and sonic space - warm and deep, as opposed to harsh and brittle !!

The fact that the bass guitar serves a different musical purpose to a guitar doesn't mean that it's not.... er... a bass guitar! Would anyone argue that a bass drum isn't a drum, because it serves a different purpose to a snare drum?

S.P. | You, sir, have a natural talent for onomatopoeia. Nicely done.
