This isn't specifically bass oriented, but wow--i was just cruising around netflix looking for something good on the instant cue and I found Dinosaur Jr, live in the middle east. These guys really rock! why didn't anyone say anything about these guys before?

Oh yeah. Dinosaur Jr. is great. I remember seeing them a few times in the 90's. They did a great cover of Boys Don't Cry at one of the shows I saw.

I've linked to them several times here on the board. It was my absolute favorite band in my late teens, and still have my favorite guitarist J. Mascis. You should check out You're Living All Over Me and Where You Been, their best albums in my opinion.

From You're Living All Over Me:

Dinosaur Jr. Is awesome! I might have to go on netflix and watch that now. I feel like the band went downhill when Lou Barlow and Murph left though.

Green Mind is their best, IMO. And that was after Barlow left. I'm a big Sebadoh fan, too.

I saw them in RI at Lollapalooza 3, I think.

The only stuff I don't really like is the mellow stuff when J sings in falsetto. Thankfully he doesn't do that much.

They did Just Like Heaven, too...also a good cover. J must like the Cure. Good man.

Whatever's Cool With Me is excellent, too. It has a cover of Bowie's Quicksand and a live verson of Thumb (from Green Mind).

Love 'em, lots of great memories of that band. My favorites are You're Living all Over Me and Bug as well as some of their early eps.

Man, I just stumbled upon this thread by accident? What are the odds?

I've recently rediscovered these guys after picking up "Farm". What a great band! I was a huge fan in the '90's but they fell off my radar after "Hand it Over".

IMO, they are one of the few bands out there that are always interesting to listen to. They're not radio friendly at all but J. can play like a MF'er!

It's always nice to hear what someone who started out as a drummer can do on a guitar. There are some awesome "interviews" of him on Youtube. Worth watching for a laugh.

Oh yeah. "Hand it Over" "Beyond" and "Farm" are all killer albums through and through.
