It was great hearing the Disco people (cuisines, and cuisettes) defend themselves too. Anyone who grew up round these parts has heard it. "Whattaya talkin bout. I love rock. I listen to Zeppelin all the time. And the Stones (only 2 bands they knew the names of). Groovy Tuesday's my favorite frikken song!" | I understand. Yankees ruin everything.
I listened to it on my little cassette/radio. With the antenna just right I could pick up V103, the "black" station in Atlanta.
I never had to hang out with Travolta and the Saturday Night Fever gang. |

We play a disco medley for the girl singer: Boogie Oogie Oogie, Got To Be Real, & Hot Stuff. Then I throw in with: Get Ready (Rare Earth) & Reach Out (I'll Be There) a la Michael McDonald. It really packs the dance floor. | My band plays a pretty big variety, but it's all rock oriented: classic rock, 80s metal, Grunge, Alternative and current rock. We have toyed with the idea of adding some funk to our sets. Jungle Love (Morris Day and the Time) and Super Freak (Rick James). Not disco, but we thought about adding those for same purpose...pack the dance floor!

He just smokes all over the early Village People records. Check out 'My Roommate' from Cruisin', or hell anything from their first 4 records. |

I will never forget those days, when all of us tried to emulate John Travolta's dancing (Bus Stop anyone?).
Of course, the SNF movie soundtrack has some of the best examples of Disco music, but here's a not so obvious example which is Disco at its best (to me, at least). |

The Wilson brothers had some really great music, and Charlie still sings to this day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17lkdqoLt44 | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
