Dislocations, and physio for musicians

Sign in to disble this ad
Evening folks,

Don't know where to post this, so I guess here will do.
Basically I dislocated my shoulder for the second time on Satarday, and I'm gunna need some fairly serious physio to get it sorted. The thing is the hospital was useless and couldn't get my shoulder back in the socket the first try )(just with asedative) so I had to wait almost 24 hours before they gave me a general anesthetic and manipulated it back. After my shoulder being out of its socket for the best part of 24 hours, I'm guessing there will be some extent of damage to the muscle or ligament from it being stretched for so long.

I'd like to know if anyone else has had similar problems, or has had a dislocated shoulder in the past, and if anyone can recomend any exercises or things to help me get rehabilitate my shoulder. Also if there is anyone in the North-West of the UK (around Manchester) d you know of any physios that would be good for musicians. I'm going to contact the musicians union to see what they can offer me. Hopefully will be ok soon, and won't have to miss too many gigs.

Thanks for the help,

Dan

I've dislocated both my shoulders and had a compressed plate in my neck. All i can seriously recommend is going to see a physio doctor NOW! I waited 2 weeks before I had physio and it has messed up my upper back and shoulders. Don't wait around.

I've got an appointment on Wednesday for an MRI to make sure there's no major damage, if there is it might mean I have to have sugery to sort it out. Hopefully not though. I'm gunna try and speak to a sports physio as soon as possible, think that might help.

not quite, I dslocated it kayaking, which put slightly more force on my shoulder in slightly the wrong direction. Hopefully there's not too much permanent damage. Won't be getting back on a river for quite a while though.
