Dissection (Band) Wow...

Sign in to disble this ad
Yesterday, I just heard the first four tracks of their last album Reinkaos and I just gotta say.
THE ALBUM ROCKS!

I never heard of the band before until yesterday.
I'm usually a Metalcore (Along the lines of Unearth & Killswitch Engage) kinda guy.

Death Metal never really grabbed me before.
All the Death Metal songs my friends introduced me are all just pointless screaming and god-knows-how-fast double pedals.

But this band is really an exception. It has melodic breakdowns and such.

Only downside is, I found out that the band has no bassist.

Anybody knows similar bands like this? Any good albums to intro? What about the other albums from Dissection?

They did have a bassist they just dropped him. I loved dissection. Storm of the Light's Bane was an excellent album, so was Somberlain check it out. Track 1 on Somberlain is one of my fav songs.

Sure will! Thanks for the heads up!

So was there any bass on Reinkaos? Sure sounds like there is!

Yes there definitely was. Otherwise the songs would sound much much more hollower.

Dissection were one of the first melodic death metal bands, a genre that I would say has heavily influenced modern metalcore. Not heard Reinkaos but the first two albums, and Storm Of The Light's Bane in particular are really good. Unfortunately the main songwriter/singer/guitarist killed himself late last year.

Arch Enemy really do very little for me. I've heard Doomsday Machine (which is OK, and has the song you like) and Burning Bridges (which I think is terrible). Pretty overrated IMO.

I'll stick my oar back in...

Check out the Death album "Symbolic" (don't be put off by the name)- the whole album's good but try "Symbolic" and "Crystal Mountain" for starters. Best old-ish band I've gotten into lately, and again very influential.

Also, Omnium Gatherum are a great Finnish band- try the tunes "The Perfumed Garden" and "The Fall Went Right Through Here". Best band I've discovered in the last couple of years I think!

How about some Canadian recommendations?
Into Eternity

Here's a British band...
Biomechanical

And maybe not as much death metal but more extreme thrash metal...
Manticora
