What exactly is the question? Do it!

(with fabric, if it changed the sound of your bass, you could easily remove) Use plaid. Plaid rocks.

I covered the pickguard of my bass with some carbon fiber type material. (silvery CF) cost like $15 off eBay, and could be trimmed with scissors, or in my case, an Xacto knife. Put some adhesive on the back (3M 467) and stuck it on/then trimmed. Works like a charm!

yeah
i should have expanded on my question

its just i have a fender MIM jazz bass

its arctis white
with a white pickguard

and id rather spend my money upgrading it

and want to do something cheap and effective
to make it look good

like fabric, of the silvery stuff that you put on books to protect it

happy now

EDIT: Im talking about the self adhesive stuff, tha little kids have like pictures of marvel heroes or bart simpson on
like getting some type of that that has a nice look to it

then trace my pickguard onto it, and cut it out and sticking it on

Make or buy a clear version of your pickguard. Then you can put almost anything thin and cool-looking under it.

You could even make your own graphics on a computer and print it out, then trim the printout to match the pickguard. Then mount the print under the pickguard.

Hopefully this isn't too much of a newb question, but where is the best place to find a clear pickguard? Any suggestions? Cool idea, BTW!

I just have no idea where to start looking... And I'm probably outta luck anyways, unless they make pickguards for Jay Turser guitars... I have the Stingray clone, not sure if the pickguards are the same as the actual Musicman ones... Hmmm...

Check with the manufacturer and with guitar/bass parts sellers, like Schechter, Stewart MacDonald, etc.

You might also find a shop that will custom cut Plexiglas and make you a duplicate of your existing pickguard.

I just picked up some stuff from these guys off Ebay. Ultra fast service (to Canada), high quality goods at a nice price. I picked up a cool retro sci-fi pickguard for my MIA Highway One jazzbass. Fitment was pretty good with just a couple of the holes off by 1/32", and even the the notch for the truss rod adjustment. Just a small plug
