DIY Guitar cabinet build! (pics)

So I've nearly finished my DIY 2x12 guitar cabinet. It's open backed, made out of good quality 18mm plywood.

It's a simple butt-jointed, glued and screwed construction, but it's pretty solid. The dimensions are copied from an Orange 2x12 cab, and when it's finished it should have black tolex and a silver grille. Fender-styling to go with my Fender Mustang head. It will be a stereo cabinet, 2x8ohms.

All I've got to do now is route and fit the side handles and jack holes, then I can put some tolex on it and the silver corners and plastic feet.

Would it be best to paint the whole thing to seal it against damp before I cover it?

More pics will come with progress if anyone's interested

How long did it take you to get that far?

Thanks man, it's a fun project!

I started on this around July 2012, but I haven't been progressing constantly. It was a work in progress that I funded over time. I got the main panels cut by the wood supplier, I gave the guy a tenner for doing it I got the baffle holes cut and corners shaped by my friend who has his own workshop and a router.

All the gluing together/screwing/fitting captive nuts was done by myself and my dad (he has a touch with this kind of thing) and the painting on the braces were done by me

It's all about patience dude

Sorry, late post.

Yeah, the head is stereo (2 x 75w at 8 ohms per side) and the speakers are 70w at 8 ohm each. Should be wired independently with Neutrik locking jacks, which are in the mail

So I haven't given up on it yet, just trying to find time

Anyway, I routed the handle holes a few weeks ago and second coat of paint went on today

It's all coming together

It's fun dude, patience is key! If you want any advice, feel free to ask. I'm not a professional by a long shot, this is my first serious cabinet build.
