Do labels care about your tour history and what do labels look for in new bands?

hey all.

if you were in a band searching for a label and your're brand new, would a two month touring history be a great thing to possess in order to have a better chance to get a label deal?
in other words, how much does a label care for that or what does a label look for when signing artists?

thanks!

Bottom line is they want to make money. Can your band sell enough recordings to make them a nice profit? Otherwise, nothing matters. Tour history? Only if you're also showing ticket sales for yourself, and you can show merchandise sales, and fan generation. How many hits on your website/Facebook/Twitter/My Space? How does that change when you're on tour? What NEW friends to you get when on tour?

That shows that you're generating interest. Just being on tour doesn't tell them anything.

John
