I was just jammin' with GFR's Live Album, more specifically, In Need, when my wife and daughter came home. They began yelling (so I would hear them) TURN IT OFF!! When I did, they proceeded to tell me how "awful" it is and how much they "hate it!" Not so much because of the volume, but the overall sound of it all.
I knew they didn't dig everything I do, but man... Such unappreciation is disappointing from those I'll be around for many years to come.
Don't mind me. I'm just sorrowfully venting. GFR is still one of my favorites.

My son, who is mostly into newer stuff, actually asked me to burn him copies of Slayer-"Reign In Blood", Kiss-"Destroyer", and Death-"Individual Thought Patterns" for his room. And I did take him to see Rush twice, and he had a blast both times.

I am fortunate that my 15 y/o son (A) has picked up the bass and is following in my footsteps (B) he knows as much about 70's-80's rock as anyone who actually grew up in that period - almost a walking encyclopedia. I'm very proud of my son to say the least

I DO NOT WANT country music, jawaiian reggae or Josh Grobin to occur anywhere near my being.

I can't seem to 'hate' any music. At all. The only type I just can't listen to seems to be screamo, and I only dislike it. Hate it? No, not at all. Even then, I can get into the music of it and when the other actual singer is singing between the lead screamer's lines. |

Yep.
So what kind of music do your wife and daughter like?
My daughter digs that Disney stuff. No, I can't stand listening to that stuff. In my defense though... That's different. I'm supposed to be that way. After all, I am a father 42 years older than she. (Actually, I do make sure not to voice that--For whatever that's worth).
My wife and I do like some of the same stuff--Keltic, acoustic works from around the world, some jazz crosses over, I enjoy a good amount of classical piano and She doesn't mind some of the more tame bluegrass. I knew she wasn't very fond of some of what I play; I just didn't expect such strength in that negativity.
