Do you like to dance yourself?

Something I've been wondering: How many of you like to go dancing yourself? Are you eager to get out on a dance floor or do you hang back and be a wallflower? This is not meant to be genre-specific, I don't care if it makes you think of ballroom or a mosh pit, just whatever you're preferred music is, do you like to get out and dance to it?

I'm wondering if there's a connection between dancing and bass playing. It's pretty common for TBers to comment that it's the bass that gets people dancing. One thing that I've noticed in my band is that we all agree in principle that we want people to dance, but then when we do a round of song nominations I'm the only one who will consistently choose dance songs -- I suspect the others have very little idea what is danceable and what's not. And I love dancing. It's usually me dragging my wife onto the floor and not vice-versa.

I used to get whacked by my band members for my cheesy "onstage dances"...

I hate dancing. I'm more into music that needs to be listened to, not danced onto.

Don't like to dance. Never have, never will. I am 50 years old and have only fast danced once and slow danced about 10 times. Always at weddings. I don't like it all.

I love to dance and love to play music that makes people want to dance. I'm 67, when I can't dance anymore I'm done.

There is a dutch song by 'De Dijk', translated as 'Musicians don't dance' which discribes the typical behaviour of musicians at a performance of another band in a brilliant way:

They sit at the bar, discussing the 'mediocre' guitar solo, they're hanging to the wall stating that the drummer and the bassist don't groove and they're drinking lots of beer while claiming that the opening act was a complete waste of time.

In the meantime the 'normal' audience is dancing and having a great time.

I dance my ass clean off- at home, w/my girls. In public? I'm not capable of drinking enough to fully relax & let it out. It is my greatest obstacle to full world domination. I can shake it a bit whilst playing live, but I try not to be the *smack-talking wallflower* type. *Silent wallflower* maybe..

Nope. Very little of what I would pay to hear these days is intended for that, and at my favorite venues you would likely be thrown out if you tried to dance.

I can't stand dancing of any kind, personally. No one ever seems to understand.

I like to date myself - it's (at least) 50% cheaper.

I used to feel like a real idiot when I would dance, now I love dancing and do it any chance I get. Having a good dance partner makes all the difference, in my opinion.

Well, they're no friends of mine.

Seriously, I voted for yes if a girl makes me, which is true these days. I used to live for getting out on the floor and doing my thing. Now, for some reason, it just doesn't appeal.
