Do you play another instrument in your band?
I'm wondering how it would be if I record a loop with by bass using (obviously) a looper, then I move to another instrument, like percussion...

I play guitar as well. I think playing multiple instruments makes you a better musician overall. I'll never forget what it was like my first time playing acoustic at a gig and being able to listen to another bass player from that perspective. Totally changed the way I play.

During the first 4 years of playing I also tryed electric guitar and latter on I had two drum set. I liked it but I had to move in another town to pursue my music study at college.

During my college years I learned classical double bass, I played a little piano (we had a class just for that), I sang in a classical choir and in a jazz choir.

After those years I got a classical guitar and I also bought an electric DB.

After many years of primarily playing bass I have started studying the guitar with the intent to get good enough to "play out". ... I am definitely still at the work in progress stage.

+1

I play fingerstyle acoustic guitar, drums and piano. Knowing what is really going on with the other instruments helps you, as a musician, evolve.

in terms of performance, yes, I play some mandolin and harmonica in the band.

in terms of recording, I'm pretty competent on guitar, keyboards and percussion as well.

I started off playing guitar. I played it for about 15 years before switching over to bass. I still play at home, just not in a band environment, although I was looking a few months back.

I can also play some drums, I know just enough to get around on a piano, and I used to play clarinet a long time ago. I've been trying to teach myself harmonica, but it's more thinking about it than actually doing it
