We`re designing the art for our upcoming album. Some of my bandmates like this design but I associate it with symphonic / progressive rock. I like that kinda music but it`s not the genre we play.
Do you find certain similarities ?
Can anyone point me some albums with "planets" like that in their cover ?
Thanks

Personally, I'd crop the guy out of the picture and go with the rest of it. I like it. I wouldn't necessarily call it progressive looking. To me, it says "mysterious" and makes me want to look into the picture more. Yes had several albums with planets on them and a sci-fi theme, so maybe that's what you're thinking?

You shouldn't crop out the guy either... he's the drummer, no?
Seriously, I like it as is. |

I do think it looks prog/symphonic except for the guy with the smoke, so I think it's funny that others said to crop him out. I'd go the other direction, emphasize him and crop some of the moon to de-emphasize it. Also make your text a bit bigger and clearer. |

No that`s not our music.
No legends, celestial bodies or wizards in our lyrics (and no keyboards). It`s basically rock in the vein of STP to name an influence (at least for me
But that`s what I was referring too, I tend to associate it with that kinda music.

If your music's in the vein of STP, then I think your artwork should be a bit earthier and oblique. |
