Do you shred solos better than your guitarist?

I do. With fast fingerpicking and extra-elongated hands, I manage to shred solos better than the guitarists. They're so busy crunched up with chords that they never practice much on playing leads.

It depends on which guitarist I play with. I'm not a great soloist, so most "lead" guitarists I jam with will technically play better leads than me. I tend to solo more if it's just one guitarist since I'd have more of an opportunity.

In my opinion, that's useful as a cool party trick and not much else.

Am I a "better" guitar player than some of the guitar players I play/have played with?

Yes.

Can I "shred?"

No.

Do I wish I could shred?

No.

Have I put any effort into pretending to wish I could learn how to shred since 1985?

No.

Do I care?

No.

Of course I shred better than the guitarists I play with. Also, usually once I'm done out-shredding them, I do a kick flip to indy grind onto their cat.

Those chords are whats making the music sound like music.

I can shred but I don't much, its virtually useless, I'll keep my playing for tasteful bass lines and keeping the music tight.

Of course I'll appreciate a little bass solo here and there
