Do your parents ever come to your shows?

Well simple question yes or no? If they do, do you find it annoying if they do, do you appreciate it or do you just not care? Also was there ever a time where did come but now they don't come anymore?

Would this qualify as a \MM/ style question?

^ weird.

My parents are separated.
But, my Mom comes to every gig she can. Even though I play in a bar band, she's always there.
She's awesome

No. Only because my Dad lives 900 miles away, and my Mom died 9-years ago. My Mom used to come to my gigs whenever she could. Even when I was in metal bands.

I don't have any shows but if I did, they probably wouldn't be able to make it being that I'm 850 miles away. If I were closer, I'm sure they would and I'd appreciate it

My dad made it to 1 gig

I was called by the leader and asked to leave my amp for the other bass player and that I was out of the band. We had hired a sub for one night as I was already booked. My dad decided to come along. Great Guy. I called my Union rep who guaranteed me the minimum union $, If I stayed through the night.
The leader goofed and was supposed to fire the sub, who wasn't scheduled to play any way.
I played, it was a hard core both styles of music band (Country and Western). My dad loved it, got a bit tipsey and it was great time.
He was at every family reunion and I played "the bass" at many. He used to play guitar at them and every Sunday at his parents house.

Best of Luck,
Wesley R.

My parents have been to a total of 3 gigs in the last 20 years. One of those was unintentional. I was playing a wedding they just happened to be at.

My Dad is gone now but never saw me on stage. Rock wasn't his cup of tea. If Dad didn't go, Mom didn't either.

My mom saw my band play once in High School at a battle of the bands back in 1981. We kicked butt. We Played 2 originals and La Villa Stangiato by Rush. I played the drums. After the show, she was so proud and relieved that all the money she spent for drum lessons over the years was worth every penny. I would love to put that band back together find a drummer and kick out the bass player

My parents didn't like my playing guitar/bass growing up, and they still don't care for it too much.

However, reading this thread really makes me appreciate my parents.

My folks just saw me play on Saturday. They braved the heat for an all-afternoon-and-into-the-night yard party, at which I played, and also 2 of my brothers played. They left while my bass-playing brother was onstage with the Led Zeppelin tribute band. That's a bit heavy for them!
They used to come to see me fairly often. They even hit a few gigs in CA, back when they had their motor home. But they are a bit old for all that now. My dad is 82 and arthritis is bad. Also his breathing is getting worse, he's more comfortable in air conditioning.
I always liked it when they came out, I was never in a band that wasn't acceptable, parent-wise. Mostly country bands.

I reluctantly allow them to come to my gigs when they ask if they can.

Yep, and I like it.

My mom just came to see my band play last night.
We did an outdoor "music in the park" event for a
straight hour and a half. We had about 600 people
in attendance. My dad wasn't able to come, he was
directing the local barbershop chorus.

My in-laws were there, and so were my wife and kids.
We had a great time, the weather was perfect, and the
bugs didn't come out until we were done playing.

Here's a crowd shot from stage:

Here's me out doin' the stroll:

I enjoy having my parents/family come to see us play.
I think it's important to share my love of music with as
many people as I can, and that definitely includes family.

Not so much now, but when we were in high school garage bands and playing covers, they were always there. My dad loved when we covered Metallica's Four Horsemen. A few months ago, we were playing a summer celebration show and my parents were there. Towards the end of the show, my dad yelled out, "Four Horsemen!". My brother and I cracked up, but went right into it like it was second nature. Good times!

I cannot remember how many shows I have played in the last 27 years. I think my parents came to about a dozen shows over that time and 4 of them have been in the last 7 years! No they only venture out to a random acoustic gig not more than about 2 or 3 miles from their house. They have never seen me on a big stage. Honestly, I don't even know what they think about me and my music. They have been silent supporters mostly. My oldest brother has been playing (not in a band) for 44 years. They bought him all sorts of guitars. My parents bought me my first used bass and nothing else. EVER.

My mom's 73, and she comes to see whenever it is any type of public event or outdoor festival. My wife and kids also attend. My wife handles the sound.
