Does any guitar center deal anymore?

I'm heading there tonight after work looking for an '08 american standard jazz. i know retail is $1149, what are the odds of me walking out of there with it for only $1000 in cash?

I will have them pull the bass down, and I will find anything to nitpick on with it. This is my mission tonight, do I stand a chance, or am I just an idiot?

According to friends that work at GC, there are no more deals. The price is the price.

But, I've heard something similar in the years past, so let's see if it's for real.

Earlier this month, I talked a used Tobias down, but it might be because it was used and had been there for a while. Asking $1600, I said $800, they said $1400. Try it.

I would see what they do. I betcha there's plenty of dealers that would get you that for less.

I don't know about dealing with GC as I don't care to drive from Omaha to Lincoln Ne, to see pretty much the same stuff that can be found with the few very nice and sizable guitar stores in my home town. Generally however most retailers in my region seem to be pretty much priced the same on new stuff using the same prices that GC/MF charge. They aren't too keen on making deals on new merchandise as they all are using the same discount formula as GC/MF. They also add that if you buy from them you save on shipping, plus you get offered a free set up on an instrument or some other service, etc.
It wouldn't hurt to try however at your local GC. All they can do is say no to your offer.

From the phone calls I have made, the used price is the used price. They will typically put it up on the used website cheaper than in store but the only flexibility if any is in the new stuff.

Good Luck, not every store is doing this.

Well, you can at least try. If not, though, I'm pretty sure you can get some free stuff thrown in.

Do they price match at all? For instance the TB discount at theperfectbass.com?

I want a hands on assesment. Plus the bass may not be for me, and don't want to go thru return hassles. With this much money, I want everything to be perfect with the instrument. If its not, then I don't get it.
