Does anyone know how to make miniature guitars?

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anyone here know how to make miniature guitars or know of any good books or something that could help me out.

When I mean miniature guitars I don't mean the playable kind I mean the ones used as ornaments.

Like these:

I wanted to supprise my friend and make her one because she's always wanted a Gretsch and they are really expensive so I thought why not make a mini version.

If anyone could help out I'd really appreciate it.

Hi.

I vaguely remember seeing such kits in an old guitar parts catalog. Stew Mac?

Other than that, a normal woodworking skills should be sufficient and any general knowledge about model-making won't hurt .

Almost every part has to be scratch-built, but the ease of photo-etching will simplify things a lot.

There's some manufacturers that can be found with Google, for example this: http://www.axeheaven.com/ EDIT: PLEASE DO LOOK AT THE WARNING BELOW

Good luck.
And do post a separate thread if You decide to go through with this.

Regards
Sam

I placed an order with AxeHeaven over two months ago. They took my money. When I asked two weeks later where my merchandise was, I was told it would be a 2 week wait. So I waited a whole month, actually, and then asked where my order was. I was told it would be shipping the following Tuesday. I waited yet another two weeks and asked where my order was, and I was told my packages had been dispatched and should be arriving any day now. It's now two weeks after that and I just filed a complaint with the better business bureau and emailed axeheaven and asked for my money back.

If they're not running an actual scam they have abominable customer service skills. I wouldn't be so pissed but I was basically LIED to and told "it's in the mail, dude." No shipping tracking number has ever been given to me.

My advice: stay away from these guys.

Thanks for the warning.

I just found them by browsing, they seemed to be quite on top of the Google search. IME TalkBass is really high on the Google sorting hierarchy, so Your warning will most probably be visible to anyone who Googles the company.

Yeah. Well, the story isn't done. After I asked for my money back a shipping notice from the company arrived in my inbox. Still no tracking number.

So I emailed AGAIN asking for a tracking number, and was finally, apparently grudgingly supplied with one. However, the saga just gets better from there. I looked up the tracking number, and I will now let my most recent flame-ensconced email to Axeheaven speak for itself.
Quote:
So, let me get this straight. I ask you for my money back because an unreasonable time has passed since you took payment. I have been given two false promises of fulfilment, and when I finally lose my patience and simply cancel the transaction you THEN provide me with a confirmation of shipping in order to avoid refunding my money. However, this is what I see when I look up the tracking number.

"The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on May 14, 2010 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later. " Given the number of false promises of fulfilment you have made, this looks like nothing more than another false promise.
That's just the beginning. The end of the email reads that if he just gives me my money back I will go away quietly.

Every reply he has given me is "I am sure you will like these once you get them." It is just the smarmiest shove-off lie possible because he knows and I know that NOTHING is in the mail even now.
