Check it out if you haven't heard them together. It's worth noting that Django lost about a finger & a half on his fretting hand in a fire at about age five I believe.
PS. Joscho Stephan is purty good too.

Yeah, I love Django.
So what could be better than a tribute to him AND 80's hits? The Lost Fingers. |

Interesting on the first clip that throughout the tune you just see what you presume is a hard swinging double bass player's elbow, then at the end it turns out to be a Steinberger EUB |

PS. Joscho Stephan is purty good too. | i agree, django is an incredible player, and the stuff with grapelli showcases the dynamic interplay of a couple of masters. the sound quality of some of the recordings isn't the greatest, but this in it's own way is really cool as it lends authenticity to the music and credibility to the strength of the performers. think, these days how many bands are studio creations or their sounds are production tricks.
i had heard that his left hand was damaged in a caravan ( trailer ) fire when he was young and that he had his 3rd and 4th fingers fused together. he thereupon learned to play his guitar with 2 fingers, solo and chording, and that this music makes up the bulk of his recorded work. amazing, truly amazing.
