Does a stingray look bad...

do you think it looks bad to have a mis-matched colored pickguard and pickup on a stingray? Say you have a black pickup and put a white pickguard on, does that look bad? Or, white pickup and black pickguard? ..or whatever combo. I know its subjective, i just want opinions.

Its all opinion, you can get somebody to photoshop your bass so you can see what its going to look like.

??? Have you never seen a bass with standard black pickup covers and a white pickguard? The pickups don't match the pickguard on many if not most basses.

black pickups on white pickguards look alright. I'm pretty sure all the multiple-pup'ed rays with white pickguards have black pickups and they look fine, not as nice as white and white though IMO. I think White pickups with black pickguards would look awful though. It would be pretty easy to take the pickup cover off and spray paint it to match the pickguard I think.

I like mismatched pickup covers. I want a black jazz with creme Dimarzio's, and I like black pickups on white guards.

Just adds more depth to the bass IMO.

I know you're concern. I'm trying to figure out what would go well with a natural wood stingray. I'm thinking a blue paisley.

My SUB has a black body and a black pup with the faux-aluminium pickguard. Personally I think it looks cool (I know that many don't). If I were ever to change the pg then I wouldn't go for black. I think the bass would lose all of it's shape.

Actually, white pearl-effect could look cool. I might just check some prices this afternoon.

Cheers

The Ernie Ball website has a "build an instrument" feature that lets you see different color combinations, but unfortunately they don't include different color pickups. (Maybe because they don't offer different color pickups? Duh?)
